Hear entries to the Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition, inspired by the Festival theme and performed by the inspirational Hermes Experiment.
Now in its 10th year, the Cambridge Young Composer of the Year Competition provides a platform for composers aged 17 and under to hear their pieces performed by professional musicians and to gain advice on composing. Entries will be inspired by this year’s Festival theme of ‘Movement’.
Composer and competition judge Ewan Campbell will provide feedback for each entry and offer guidance on composing in general and for the instruments involved. The pieces will be performed by the Hermes Experiment, an unusual combination of harp, clarinet, voice and double bass, whose members are passionate about engaging a wider audience with contemporary classical music.
